When you fill up next time, divide the total number of miles that you drove buy the number of gallons it took to refill the tank and that will give you your MPG. So, if you went 250 miles since your last fill up and it takes 12 gallons to fill up, 250/12=20.8miles per gallon.

Now divide 300 by the MPG of 20.8 and that will give you an approximate tank size of 14.4.

The tank size is also in the user manual for the car.

Well it depends. My 96 F150 gets 300 miles to a tank and when I fill it up it takes about 16 gallons. My Mustang gets about 330 miles to the tank and it takes 12 gallons to fill up. What kind of vehicle do you have? As you can see different vehicles get different results.

Not enough info here to tell.

Look in your owners manual.

Run your car out of gas and add a pail full to get to the gas station. Adding the known gas in the pail and the gas put in at the station will get you very close.
