The MEd is an advanced degree in education for those who already have 1) a bachelor's degree in education and 2) a teaching certificate issued by their state.

It is not as general a degree as is the bachelor's and requires advanced study in either educational methods or educational administration.

It is usually required for advancement of teachers to lead teacher or administrator (asst. principal).

The material is educational philosophy and theory and not the major subject of the teacher.

The MEd would not qualify one for most college level teaching jobs (with the possible exception of lower level courses in a department of education).
