How to clean venir (sp?) table?

My mom had ordered some food today, and the food we ordered burnt through the bag and left a white knid of burn on the table, anyone kknow how to fix it? We've tried the wood cleaner and everything already

Soak a cotton ball with white vinegar and rub the white area. Then use regular furniture polish on the whole thing.
