They have better equipment and absolutely NO accountability!

Seems to me the troops are the least considered in this equation!

There are limits on how many US. Troops can be sent off to illegitimate wars, and the mercenary companies donate to the Republican party.

Emperor Bush saying that he supports the troops is just him going through the motions. Anyone can spout any combination of words.

He does not care about any human beings -- soldiers, ordinary citizens, or anyone. Sorry, but I think he's a profoundly evil and fascistic pile of supreme mediocrity and malice. History will brand him one of the worst rulers in world history.

"Supporting the troops" is just another line of far right propaganda. It doesn't mean they have to do anything to live up to it, it means it's a useful line to shut up liberals much like pro life, don't ask them to support poor children's health care though.
Between the cheap empty rhetoric of the American right and what they really believe, do and support is a world of difference.
The issue you raise is just another example but a very important one. American soldiers deserve better than to be treated as second class to private mercenaries

ya, when bush sprews his words of propaganda from the book of "how to use propaganda effectively 101", he says "
"we need to sign that bill so we can support the troops"!!!

those rent-a-troops are the boys gettin all the "support"!!

i wonder if anyone could break it down into maybe somethin simple, like a pie chart!!!

and actually show how much goes to our regular troops, and how much goes to the rent-a-troops??!!!

or would this be "accountability gone wild"??!!!!

it would probably be hushed up because of national security reasons!!!

of course thats just my opinion!!!

Troops are just Cannon Fodder

Look back through American History there are numerous accounts of America killing the troops.

Shay's Rebellion 220 years ago when the troops wanted to get paid. They were gunned down.

Or Lincoln's Battle of Cold Creek Lincoln was quoted, it is less expensive to train new recruits than to reinforce the ones locked in Battle

The list is long and has not ended

If Congress passed a Bill which said " Equal pay for Equal work", as far as the Military is concerned, Mr. George would call it "Budget Busting"

I suspect they are used instead of re-instituting the draft. I also suspect they are paid very well because what is to prevent them from switching sides to the highest bidder? Apparently, nothing.

What do they have to do with soldiers ?
