I'm 18 and thinking of going to see a therapist or something like that. I'm insecure from my experiences at school. I was bullied really badly, all my friends turned out to be two-faced, and now I don't trust anybody. I'm hate being like this as I know not everyone is bad, and want to do something about my problems. But does therapy or anything like that actually work? Has anyone here had any experiences?

It is impossible to answer that question in a general way. Whether a therapy works or not depends on a lot of factors, among these are:
- your willingness to participate
- the right kind of therapy (there are many different ones)
- your mental status
- your therapist's openness and professionality
...and many more.

I've seen many therapists over the past 10 years or so, and they don't do any good for me. They don't hurt me or anything, they're just not very effective. Mine have all been cognitive/behavioral therapists though, so maybe that just isn't the right approach for me.

counselling really does help if you remember that their job is 80% listen leaving the other 20% to speak and come up with some suggestions that "may" help you, if he/she is unfamiliar with the area of your problems they will recomened a good counsellor who has worked in that area, never be afrayed because counsellors are people you can really trust, what ever is said between you will never be divulged to enyone else. dont wait take control now, and good luck to you.

You're probably a good therapy candidate.
You are aware of a problem and it's cause,
and just need a bit of help to work it out.

It depends. If you get a good therapist then it might work. My experience is that bad therapists are worse than non at all!!

It did'nt work for me at all, but at the same time I would'nt write the idea off. Go along with an open mind and see what happens.

It helps a lot, some of it is hard to go through, like talking about things in your past, but it resolves lots of problems.
