Of course not. This is the common sense approach to the problem, and is EXACTLY what the Republicans were against.
The Republican leadership isn't against illegal immigration, they're for it. A sub-market, exploitable workforce that can do labor for pennies on the dollar for what legal labor would cost - that's a boon for corporations, who reap the added profits without having to raise prices. It also damages the unions who have to try and compete with the illegal workforce.
Then it gives the Republicans a dark-skinned boogeyman to market to the knuckle-draggers - an easy, different looking and sounding target to blame for the problems, without acknowledging that they want and allow the average American worker to get worked over and screwed for profit.
I've always said that if you nail the people who HIRE them, then the jobs go away and there's no reason to cross the border. Instead, the conservatives encourage idiots like the Minutemen, come up with boneheaded ideas like a giant fence, or make noise like we're going to be able to round up 12 million people who are already under the radar, process them and ship them back.
But since Arizona already is bearing the burden, they decided to act. They went after the source of the problem - the greedy companies, and already there are news stories about immigrants packing it up and going home.
The national leaders would never bite the hand that feeds them (corporations), but Arizona has gone straight to the heart of the problem, and the speed of the results are amazing.
This is what Dems have been clamoring for - a REALISTIC approach that ACTUALLY ADDRESSES THE PROBLEM, without demonizing those who are driven to do what they do out of desperation.

I don't happen to be a Republican or a Democrat; and, personally, I support what Arizona is doing. I do, however, believe that you are mistaken in your apparent assumption that this is an issue that will only upset Democrats.
The truth is, there are going to be just as many Republicans upset by this as Democrats. I used to live in Arizona and I know a lot of Arizona business owners who are Republicans and they are not happy about this at all. Many businesses owned by Republicans (construction contractors, hotels/motels, landscapers, restaurants, farms/ranches, etc.) hire illegals because they can pay them less, refuse to provide them benefits, and get away with it. This is something that will ultimately cut into the profits of Republican business owners so it'll be interesting to see how long it lasts.
It also hasn't been very many months ago, that the number one supporter of putting millions of illegals on "the road to citizenship" was the Republican decider himself, George W. Bush.

Sounds good to me. I lived in AZ and it was a pretty Republican state, so can't see how this will just affect Democrats. I live in NC and Walmart has been raided more than once for hiring hundreds of illegals. Hmm, I thought Walmart/Sam's was owned by a pretty right-wing conservative group of people. It'll be interesting just who is more upset by what goes on in AZ.

Or we could just give them amnesty and actually take Social Security and taxes out of their paychecks.
I think it's fine. The greedy businesses are the ones who just can't bring themselves to pay Latino immigrants the same for doing the same work as whites. 'Cause the work of those silly non-human non-white people isn't worth as much as the work of whites, you know. If our blood-sucking companies wouldn't be hiring the illegals, we wouldn't have these problems.

I'm not upset. If people are serious about illegal immigration, it's probably the only solution.
I suspect that as many businesses owned by Republicans will be shut down as businesses owned by Democrats. It will be interesting to see what happens.

The Dems will use this as evidence of bigotry against Latinos. Any time you want to enforce the law, some minority group will shout "racial profiling" to stop it from being enforced. And yes, many potential votes for the Dimocrats are heading home to Mexico. Arizona's laws should be adopted by every state. Deport the invaders, build the border fence, end sanctuary policies, and enforce our all of our immigration laws

My penalty is a little more extreme. I have always advocated punishing those who get rich off of these people's backs.

I think more upset will be the people of Arizona when they realize what a huge inflationary effect this law will have in the area.

I think that the open borders people of both parties are going to be upset. This is not a single party issue.
