I am not worried personaly, because I enter very little. Iam however concerned for the person that feel the site is secure. I'm sure you you have visited with friends ect. and the amount of very personal info,is scary, and there is no need. We all have to ,be resonsible for our own security. Great question John t

Every piece of personal information about me on Facebook is something I have put on there. The privacy settings allow me to control how much about me people can know. The people who can see my most personal identifying information are people who already know it anyway.
Also, because I work at a university and the fact that I have a unique name, it is quite easy for people to find and contact me on the Internet anyway. So Facebook isn't really exposing me to any additional risk.

I was invited by a friend to connect on Facebook so I registered and had a browse. I was horrified at the amount of information on there and how easy it was to check people's details out - people seem so happy to give out pictures of them and their children and really personal information. I have heard that potential employees browse on face book before deciding whether to offer someone a job. I would be very careful of things like this.

Actually its up to YOU how much information you put on there. I have an account and I put next to nothing - not even my real birthdate or location. Not to mention you cant even see other peoples pages unless you are their friend (or send a request) and even then you can limit it. Yes, its wrong to sell information but you cant get mad when YOUR the one supplying the information.
If your that paranoid.. just take your information off, its that simple.

I heard that too on BBC Breakfast, as I was getting ready for work the other day.
The founder of Facebook has said that he'll make money by selling the details of people to companies, judging by what details people post, ie, parents will get mail from companies that sell kiddie stuff etc etc

Well no, people should be responsible for info THEY choose to put out there on the internet. Personally, I don't put very personal info there.
