Keep it simple - I would suggest checking out the food section of www.bbbc.co.uk - and then do a search for Nigella Express recipes - she has loads of simple and quick to do recipes.
I love traditional christmas food - turkey, stuffing, roast potatoes, sprouts, broccoli, carrots, peas, etc.
The you could follow it with something like a chocolate mousse - we are having a an oreo based chocolate cheesecake.

Turkey is more traditional, but some people don't like turkey. And I confess, I've had a lot of dry turkey too.
But if you're having a lot of people, try this:
Turkey with stuffing
Mashed potatoes
Cornbread, rolls, or biscuits
Candied sweet potatoes
Green beans or some other vegetable
Cranberry sauce
Pie of choice
This is if you're feeding a lot of big eaters
Enjoy your holiday!

everything above. you HAVE to have a christmas ham; i looove honeybaked hams. also, betty crocker has a christmas cookbook that covers everything you're looking for from breakfast, to entrees, sides, appetizers, salads, cookies, desserts, and even christmas drinks, for about $25.00 with amaaazing recipes and good pictures too. i'm sure your library would have it. the book does a really great job, and my family is totally using it this year. but yeah, you should probably make the ham, dinner rolls, that green bean casserole thing, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, carrots, etc...we usually have a nice cheese platter beforehand, and christmas cookies with coffee afterwards. we also include a lot of ethnic food (eastern european things like pierogies, kielbasa, etc...). best of luck!! and don't get too crazy; it's nice to try new recipes, but i was told just to throw the party that i wanted to and was best able to throw. it's okay to take some old favorites and mix them in with some new christmas recipes, but only as long as you don't go too crazy with it! have fun!!! gl!
