I don't mind a little snow, or some hot weather, but nothing too extreme. Also some place with inexpensive real estate and friendly people.

looks like the South wins! I moved to a wonderful town 20 miles north of Nashville, TN called Hendersonville. We have 4 distinct seasons but they are fairly mild. The people are great. H'ville has lots of great amenities and is growing as far as restaurants and shopping. We are right on Old Hickory Lake so there is boating and watersports and beaches. Home prices range from $150,000- a lot!!! But you can got a nice home reasonably still. We are only about 35 minutes from downtown Nashville and all the wonderful things available there- ballet, symphony, museums, all genres of music, history galore, great parks with walking trails, hiking, more lakes, camping, great restaurants, etc. We absolutely love it here! Good Luck!!!

I retired and moved from Maryland to here in Raleigh, NC and I love it. People have that friendly "downhome" nature and speak to you regardless of whether they know you. Housing prices are good because they are building houses in the $150K range along with those much higher priced. and two story townhouses can be had for just over $100K. The weather is moderate, only had about 2 inches of snow the past 5 years since I have been here and when hurricanes come up the East coast US we are too far inland to get anything other than some light winds and maybe some rain.

If I were going to move, I think I would like to move to Arkansas. There are mountains, and lots of lakes, good fishing, rockhounding, the weather is moderate, and northern Arkansas is growing by leaps and bounds so there is plenty of big city close by. It is a beautiful state as far as parks and scenery. You can still find reasonable real estate, as long as you stay away from the Rogers/Bentonville/Fayetteville area, and everyone I have met there has been friendly. Just be prepared to like football!
