Ok sports experts on Nfl Network(just watched it) just said that Montana is the greatest qb of all time. Favre didn't even make the top 5. So how is Favre better?
They put the following in order.
1. Montana
2. Brady(serious)
3. Elway
4. Marino
5. Bradshaw
What do you think of this order? where do you think they should put Favre at?

I want to see how Brady's slingin' it at 38 years old, same with Manning. Favre is considered one of the tops because of his arm. While he may have lost a little on his fastball, it is still better than Brady, Manning, and more than likely all of the NFL QB's except for maybe JaMarcus. Favre's ability to put the ball in a tight window, thread the needle in tight double coverage make Favre what he is. I hope Manning and Brady are playing well into their 30's because I want to see what happens when they lose a bit of their average/good arm strength. I bet we don't see many 25+ TD seasons, than much less 20. Fact is put Favre on Brady's teams over the past few years and this year, then throw Brady on Favre's. Remember last year when Brady was whining about having no wideouts, Just remember Favre made almost every one of the Packers WR's better. Freeman, Brooks, Walker, and others. None of those Wideouts did anything after Green Bay. Currently James Jones, Greg Jennings, Donald Driver.
While Brady, Manning, and Montana are all great QB's. QB's like Marino and Favre never had half of the talent around them. Even during Favre's Superbowl years of the past, his receiving core was nothing great, and look at the stats he put up.

its all about one man's opinion, that includes sports analysists. just because they have an opinion on the greatest does not mean that qb is the greatest without a doubt. anyone who does not include Favre as among top 5 just does not know what he has done. however, my personal opinion is there is no single greatest qb in history as they all lived through different era's and have been the best in certain things they provide on the field. Montana was a winner, but has had tremendous talent around him his entire career. Brady was and still is a winner, but has always had a good defense. Favre found ways to win with little talent around him and is the only qb that can throw an accurate 80 yard bomb off his back foot, but has also threw some interceptions as well. bradshaw and marino both racked up massive passing yards in a time more difficult to pass. bradshaw had a tremendous defense. marino never won the big game. Super Bowls are team won games though, so that is of little relevance in this category in my opinion.
so that is the way i see it, there is no single greatest qb because they each provide something they have done better than someone else, but they all have had a flaw against them. Favre is no doubt Top 5 in history, but i cannot put any qb solely at #1.

I can't believe you think Brady is better then Favre. # 2 dude?
ummm, yeah.... maybe you need to rethink that.
Either Favre,Montana,Elway is #1. Who? im not sure.right now, Brady is not in the top 5. He has yet to do what those QB has done. Yeah he is going to break the TD record for 1 season and has 3 rings but there is still more to be seen from him before you crown him even in your top 5.

Brady & Bradshaw shouldn't be there at all.
come on, i know you have a man crush on Brady but, he's been on really good teams. he hasn't seen anywhere near the numbers he is having this year. that's all Moss. Brady is a good QB, i'm not hating but until this year he just handed the ball off, dump a couple passes to keep the chains moving. he's been on some of the greatest teams we've seen in decades, does that make him a greatest QB of all time? no
Marino & Favre are 1 & 2. Elway is 3. Montana & Unitas round out the top 5.
i'm a big Colts fan but can't put an active QB so early in his career on that list......... YET
EDIT - Brady is having a better year than Manning but he is NOT a better QB. can you say MAN CRUSH? ahhhhh

Well Bradshaw, shouldn't be on the list it was the rest of his team that did great things and its too early to give it to Brady, Manning has more records and will break others before Brady. Bill Walsh's ground-breaking offense and a great team contribute to Montana's glory. Favre never had as much to work with. And I'm a Vikings fan

I completely agree that favre isnt better than montana. And everyone.....Brady is good. and none of you can say that he isnt....I watch the 49ers (which i guess isnt the best example, but bear with me) and I see that the things Brady does are so out of Smiths league or Hill or any of the other qbs on the 9ers. But ok, since that isnt the best example, could you see favre doing the kind of things brady does??? No!! I hate the man, trust me, i odnt like him, but hes good.
Ya ya....just dont listen to me......stupid hockey fans right??? YA!!!!! (im predicting what you guys are thinking)
Im just saying and you all know its true

You play football for Championships I would take out Marino and put Favre maybe even Young, but Montana is number 1. 4 Superbowl Rings....that is a great accomplishment.

I think they have a man-crush on Brady but beyond that have something of an argument. Marino and Montana are 1-2, Montana would usually go first because the Championships but honestly I think it is more 1a and 1b. I wouldn't put Elway up that high either, but I just don't think he was that great.

I guess the fact that Favre OWNS almost all the QB records doesnt mean anything??
Plus everyone says the packers cant run the ball.... so they must be 12-2 because of Favre!
Favre has done it year after year after year. It never mattered who lined up at receiver, he produced!
Anyway, making a list is for talkshows, it gives them a job..thats all!

Montana was a system QB. Had he not have been drafted and played in Bill Walsh's system, he'd be considered average. Steve Young was better than Montana.
