i want help on some questions imstuck on

1. What characteristics is an advantage to ferns over mosses makin them able to grow to a larger size in part of their life cycle?


2. Compare and contrast the reproduction of conifers with that of anthrophytes?

1. Ferns have vascular tissue which lets them grow larger. Two reasons: vascular tissue gives support to hold the plants up taller; vascular tissue carries food and water over the distance necessary for plants to be bigger. Without vascular tissue, mosses depend on diffusion to carry food and water. Diffusion won't be adequate in larger plants.

2. Conifers have their reproductive parts in male and female cones. Male cones make the pollen which is transferred to the female cones by wind. Female cones contain the ovules which will become the seeds. Anthophytes have their reproductive parts in flowers. Some flowers contain both male and female parts while others may be only male or only female. Pollen is transferred from the male flower parts, stamens, by wind, insects, birds, bats, ... to the female flower parts, pistils.
Conifers bear their seeds on the scales of the female cones. Anthophytes bear their seeds inside fruits.
