Before i start i really mean no disrespect, i don't mean mentally challenged and i'm sure thats what alot of people will think and i'm sure its a lawsuit waiting to happen. But what i mean by is retard as when smart people do stupid things completely ignoring common sense. But what i want to know is what people think of the name and possible alternatives. Thanks!!!

meh, it's not so great. what about The Geektards? it's less offensive and more interesting. It's also easy to remember. The last thing people want to do is struggle to remember a band name. If it's not memorable, then no one will listen. It's also a little more simplistic than your original idea. The average music listener's attention span is increasingly shortened these days so the simpler the better. Hey me and EZ4U2BU and i are on the same page!

The use of the word Retard is politically incorrect, and is not cutesy, funny, or appealing in any way. Whereas this might give you the idea that this sets you up as rebels and a new genre, forget it, it's just embarrassing.
Just one thought - how would you feel if your brother were subnormal or you work to support people less fortunate than yourself - would you like to think someone is mocking them for a tragic disability? No you wouldn't.
You see, it makes no difference that you have a special meaning for the word Retard in your own mind - you need to think not only what it means for you in your internal thoughts, but also how others perceive it, and how it will affect them.

Think of a word that represents the opposite of Geeks, but is not offensive to people struggling for normality in their lives.
How about Dopes, Fumblers, Hamfists, Illiterates. Crasspots,
Muggles, Dreamers, Stumblers, or what about "Geeks and Creeps", "Geeks and Androids" or "Geeks and Peeps"?
Good Luck

Unfortunately, I think most people will be offended by the word RETARD. I think Geeks is a great word, so maybe choose a synonym for retard, like Dim-witted Geeks, its kind of contradicting and funny.

Geeks isn't bad but it maybe lacks an adjective.
Furry Geeks
Velvet Geeks
Insipid Geeks
Tyrannical Geeks
Naked Geeks.........

It should be Retards and Geeks, sounds better that way. And if it's for a rap or hip-hop band then I'd say it is a good one.

id say its funny, but the line you walk may be razor thin.
Some people may wierd going to a concert for a band called geeks and retards.
Maybe go for contrast.
Geeks & Warriors
Geeks & killers
Geeks & zombies

What you think?

well instead of using the word retard use moronic, or look for a word to subsittue retard

and geeks and retards doesnt flow. the name has to flow as well as sound good.

Try "Geeks of Retarded Paint". You get both words in there and offend no one worth your while.
Yes paint 'retards' it happens when there is too much oil in with the pigment and it goes all reticulated, wrinkly, in short it retards.

I don't think it's a good idea to have a name that is self deprecating. Many years ago their was a black group that called themselves "The Ni**ers". They didn't last long because no one could promote them with a name like that. Of course, what do I know, with a name like"The Beatles" I never thought they would make it either.

Cool name, but if you dream of going mainstream - becoming big, then consider that people will simply not listen to your music because others will think they are "geeks and retards"... Geektards was a cool suggestion, I like it ;)
