I got a voilation notice for saying "Thank you" to Susie for her cute lttle joke. The violations notice said "adult content".
I had gotten best answer, so naturally, it was withdrawn (the points). I also got a voilation for asking how the weather was in your area.
Seems our little innocuous questions seem to upset someone. Oh well, I am almost done wallpapering the bathroom with violation notices. When the bathroom is done, I am going to decorate the "trash bin" area with the violation notices.

If my treatment is normal, then I'd say yes, they keep their
ten points for best answer. I had to watch my tally bar to see
if I'd lost points today when a question I'd been picked for,
was deleted. I still have the correct amount. So when my
question two days ago was pulled, I wondered about that.
But I hadn't gotten to choose a winning answer. But I felt bad
for those who'd taken the time to answer, and then didn't
have a chance at getting any extra points. I also was told
I'd been chatting. From the sounds of things, there was a
fiesty little troll out to get as many as they could. I guess
trolls don't celebrate the Christmas season, to just give it
a rest til after the holidays are over. Our visitor sure doesn't
believe in having the holiday spirit, with all of the reporting
he or she did that day.

Isn't it strange how that 'chatting' violation is handed out willy-nilly. So many other questioners post notes to their answerers and have no problem, then some friggin' troll comes thru and WHAM!!, CHAT VIOLATION!
Personally, I think the chatting violation should be removed. Discourse inside the question keeps everyone on topic, no emails need to be exchanged, and it's far more interesting! Sorry it happened to you.
As for the '10 points' thing, I think once the question gets removed for a violation, all points are removed from responders and no points are awarded the 'best answer.'
Sucks, but I think that's the way it is.

When a question is removed because of a violation, the people who got points for it do not loose their points. Only the one who asked the question.

I had 10 points taken from me one time when the question was withdrawn by YA. The explanation was there was no question to answer. I thought just thought whatever. The points really do not matter to me anyway.

Everyone gets a violation at one time or another. I don't care about the points anyway.

The person you chose as best answer--should get the 10 points, I think that's the way it works...Hang in there.

It has happened to all of us at one time or another. Wouldn't you think the seniors section would have a little more leeway with answers and questions considering that most of us are relatively new to this form of communication.
