It would appear that you have asked, in effect, two questions. The first is "Why go on living?" The second would be, "What am I to do with the time while I'm here?" To answer the latter question first, the simple fact is no one can give you ambition. You have to decide for yourself what it is that you most desire in life, then you have to choose to pursue it. It's your choice. If you're not putting out any effort towards accomplishing or acquiring anything, then it's either because you don't truly believe it's worth going after or you don't believe you are able and/or worthy of attaining such a thing. But, dwelling on doubts about self-worth and what-not just wastes a lot of time. If you want to do something with your life, decide what it is, then do it. As to "Why go on living?," this kind of question suggests you may be suffering from depression. The best thing you can do for yourself is to seek counseling from a professional therapist. It may save your life...or at the very least, save you a lot of time in understanding what it is you want out of life and how to get it. The purest, most practical, reason to go on living is simply there is no satisfactory alternative. Dead is dead. There is no afterlife. At least as long as you're alive, there's always the chance that you'll figure out what you can do to make your own life tolerable, perhaps even enjoyable. Good luck!

Life is most definitely challenging. Nothing in life is perfect. I've had it all..................and lost it. Now I am working on re-gaining it. You are only 16. You can do anything you want to. I'm gonna' tell you a few things I learned: (1) lovers come and go, but friends are forever. (2) No matter how bad things are, they could always be worse - think about that) (3) God loves you. You seem to be somewhat depressed, Life isn't worth it. Don't dwell on the bad influences. Concentrate, otherwise, on the more positive things that life has to offer. You have your health, beauty and self. You are worth much more than you give yourself credit for. Life is a journey. It has it's ups and downs, for sure, but try and "go with the flow" and enjoy every moment of it. I don't know you, but I love you as a part of human-kind. Try and focus on all the positive attributes in your life. I believe you have more than you think. Best Wishes, and God Bless :) . xoxoxoxoxo DJ

The reason for living is that you never know when something is going to get better, when something is going to change. That's what's great about life- it's full of surprises. Being that you're 16, there is so much that you haven't lived yet. You haven't had a first love, been married, lived on your own, there is just so much you haven't gotten to experience. You can never know that life has no meaning unless you have lived through anything this life has to offer. And nobody will ever get to that point- so never give up.

The feelings you are having are a lot more common than you think. They are worse in your mid-teens, but then get better as you get a larger view of the world around you, start to tolerate the bad feelings, and eventually find things that you want to do. Sometimes when you feel really bad you need professional help to get you past the hard parts of life. You only have one life to live. It may not seem like it, but there really is no reason not to live, no reason not to keep looking for something worth living for. Look for a way to help people who are in need - if you do you be on your way to finding a reason for living. If you are feeling really depressed check out -http://www.kidshealth.org/teen/your_mind/mental_health/suicide.html - right now.

Look up the following:-
WillyNelson_Wonderful_World_Fotos2007.pps
If that doesn't make you want to live, nothing else will help you.
You are the reason to live. YOU. There is a purpose for you on this earth and all you have to do is find it. The journey is wonderful and you are a unique person.
Write down your dreams. As many as you can think of and then cross them out, one by one until there is one left.
Then go for that dream. If you BELIEVE you will achieve it, you will, I promise you.
I mean the following in the most loving way:-
CHANGE YOUR THINKING CHANGE YOUR LIFE
Try it, it really works.
If I can help you at all e-mail me through Yahoo Answers.

Sarah - please read the book "the Purpose Driven Life" by Rick Warren. It will change your life.
I know high school can be really difficult. I am sure if you really think hard you will find your strengths and something to be grateful for. Do you have one really good friend you can talk to? Life changes for the better after high school - right now it's your world with all of the different cliques. You can rise above it. I will say a prayer for you.
Is your family supportive? Can you talk to them.
If my daughter was feeling like this - I would want to know.

I don t have any reason to live even if there telling me to hang on to my dreams or to the family that love me .About the dreams there so far away and that why it s call dreams because it never happens. It s only for the rich people.I ve work all my freaking life just to be use as a punching or they took advantage of and when you want something in return they always find a reason to tell you that your not worth it and at the same time they give you a raise but in more work not in salary. I just lost my dad and i had to watch him for two days on till he let go.Nobody in my family wanted to do that because everybody was to busy for not to lose there vacation days or they had somethings to do ecept the right thing was to give him a little dignity or respect.itwas hard to let him go but at lease i gave him that time. My mother is also in a nursing for alsaimer and she dosn t reconize me and everytime that i go see her it breaks my heart to see her that way. It s like talking to an empty shell when i look in her eyes it s empty. Even myself i when to cancer treatments and still not quite out of it. SO all the dreams that i thought i had to spoil my grandchilds are slipping away and i can t not do anything about it.so tell me where is that famous reason to live.I m dependent on my wife.I don have a salary, no welfare because my wife earn to much on her cpp and i m not aloud my cpp disability because they say that i m alright. I ve try many times to suicide but ther s always a little something either that i fail or i m to lazy to do it.Im so tired of this shity life that maybe i will find a way to stop this freaking misary. So give me one reason to live.

There is one and only one person in this world who can give you a reason to live, and that is you. It's obvious that there is something inside you that wants to live, if only to see what happens next.
A therapist or your parents or a friend or adult that you trust can help you bring out the reason to stay alive. When you find it, my advice is to hold on to it and look for more reasons to stay alive.
Take care

I had the same feeling, but it passed. Noone exactly knows the reason to live and everyone live for others. For parents, for children, for friends...Just live... I think most people live to love, Love is greatest feeling. You're too young to die, so live and you'll find the reason to live. (When I had such thoughts, I just did nothing but listened to the music all time) You need new impressions! Good luck!
