I am terrified of wasps - I got stung once and it really hurt. I completely embarrass myself when one comes near me - I just freak out. I hate them. Bees are fine - I am not scared of them because generally they don't sting on purpose like wasps do.

RE: Wasp or hornet sting — what does it feel like? Ever since I was a child and to this day (I'm 31), I've always been extremely afraid of wasps and hornets, I might even have a phobia. But I haven't yet ever been stung by a wasp or a hornet or even a bee. So I am curious — what exactly does it feel like?... Could you plz describe in the most...

I've been stung by wasps many times and a bee and a hornet just once. The hornet sting was by far the worst my whole hand swelled up for days. It was about to land on my daughter so I hit it with the back of my hand. I'm not afraid of any of them but my Mum is, she has flicked wasps at me on many occasions.

I've been stung many times by wasps, bees, and hornets. Wasps and hornets are very aggressive they will come from out of nowhere and sting you and boy does it hurt. Many times after I have been stung the place where they injured me swells. Consider yourself lucky, I live out in the country where Wasps, hornets, and bees are very common. Wasps in particular like to build nests under your porch or along the underside of supporting beams they will attack you when you get close to them.

I have been stung several times by wasps and a few times by hornets.
While it is not a pleasant experience, I am not afraid of them and I usually just ignore them even when they buzz around my head.
While I don't mind wasps, hornets or bees, I detest fire ants. Their sting is far worse, because it takes longer to heal.

Yes when I was 15 riding my bike. A black wasp stung me right in the crotch! Hurt like hell so since then every time I see one it comes down with a severe case of the splats!

Yes I have been stung by wasps twice, and no I'm not terrified of them. It doesn't hurt that much or for that long so I've never really understood what the whole flapping arms and frantically running away thing is all about. It is entertaining to watch though so please don't ever conquer your fear.

As a child, a wasp stung my finger...No big deal. A lot of very warm water and some creamy stuff...The doctor was not at all worried.. It hurts a lot at the beginning, but it healed very soon..Don't be so afraid...Good luck
