When you hear the name: Leokadia?

My baby cousin was named after my great Oma. It is a polish name, coming from the Greek word, "leukos" meaning bright, clear, white. I actually like it, and nicknames could be Kady/Katie or Leo or they've even though of Ladia. The proper pronounciation is "lay-oh-kahd-ee-ah" but they say it how it looks, "lee-oh-kade-ee-ah".

So, what do you think?

I'm not planning to name my daughter Leokadia, I'm just wondering what other people will think of it as she grows up. By the way, it isn't very popular at all where I'm from. Another nickname (which my great Oma used) was Lottie.

It depends on where your cousin lives. It's a name that might be frowned upon where I'm from, because it's quite unheard of. But maybe it could also be an interesting feature: people will be eager to find out what her name means, so as long as she can bear being asked the same question over and over again, she'll never lack a topic for starting a conversation.

It's not so original if she's the third person in the family to have the same name. There are so many beautiful names. Keep searching!

Its very pretty. I think my first thought would be that the person is Greek or of Greek origin!

You could call them Leo or 'Kadia/Kadie for short!

It reminds me of the California town Leucadia...a nice place, for sure, but not a particularly appealing baby name to me. (But I've been wrong before). Whatever you choose, good luck with your new arrival. Happy Holidays.

It's been around forever in spanish, we write it Leocadio-Leocadia, mostly used for males (leocadio), I don't like it much but I will admit it is kind of Unique this days.
