OK I looked through all of these answers and no one ever hit on the absolute fastest way. The guy with the firewire was close. but the absolute fastest way would be to put the old hard drive in the new computer and transfer from disk to disk. If you don't fool with hardware then the firewire. If you want a transfer and a backup burn to CD or DVD. Good luck

If you have a LOT of them, why not burn them to CDs? Then you can transfer them easily to your new computer, and at the same time you're creating a permanent backup! Blank CDs are realy cheap these days! And if you have really a lot of photos, blank DVDs are even cheaper in terms of cost per megabyte.

Take the Folder that has all the pictures in it and make an archive with winrar or winzip with it. Once you make the archive it makes a .zip of the folder then just copy that into ur USB Drive and copy to the place u want it to take it to, then just unzip it and Done.!

hope that helps :D

P.S. it is best to make the archive a .zip rather than .rar archive as .zip is supported on a clean install of windows which will not support .rar

I like a big fat USB 2.0 external HDD for that kind of thing. Then you don;t actually have to tranfer them to the new computer. You can just transfer them to the drive, and let them live there so you can use you on board for other things.
