Everytime I go snowshoeing ice builds up under the heel, you can chip it off with a screwdriver, but after awile it gets too solid. Anyone know if de-icer would work or know some other trick.

Under the heel of the snowshoe...or the heel of your boot? I'm not sure where you mean.
Ice under the snowshoe is normally caused because the crampon is wet and snow starts to stick to the crampons. I had to bust snow out of mine twice today. I usually just clean the crampons out with the tips of my trekking pole.
If it is sticking to the bottom of your boot, then you don't have snowshoe problems...you have boot problems, or you are sinking too deep into the snow and need either a) work on your technique, b) different snowshoes, or c) different snow conditions.
I snowshoe a lot...like, I get paid to snowshoe...The only time I had snow accumulate between the boot heel and the snowshoe decking was with a really powdery snow on days when the temp was just slightly above freezing.

What kind of snowshoes? What kind of boots? Snow conditions? Where exactly is the snow accumulating?
