You can't really get rid of Internet Explorer. But you can disable it. And then use Firefox.

Go to start>run> and type msconfig
look for IE and uncehck it.

It could be that IE has allowed so many toolbars and crap that it is slowing everything down. You need to get rid of all that stuff, first through add/remove programs then with spyware programs.

This list will show you how to clean out the computer. If you want.

*Download, install and the get the updates for the following, but DO NOT RUN A SCAN YET:

Adware

SuperAntispyware
http://www.superantispyware.com/download.html

*Then, DISCONNECT from the internet.

*Go to Start>Settings>Control Panel>Internet Options and delete all browsing history (cookies, temporary internet files etc). Check the box, Also delete files and settings stored by add-ons.

*Make sure your folder settings allow you to see the ALL your folders, Go to My Computer>Folder Options>View. CHeck all the show files boxes and UNCHECK all the Hide boxes. Click apply and ok.

*Go to C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings \temp
Delete all files. (for each user)

*Delete all in recycle bin

*Next, boot up in safe mode (Tap the F8 key every few seconds as the system boots up until the screen Saying Safe Mode option appears).

*Now run the above spyware programs.

I would also download and install Firefox, its less vulnerable than IE.

(Then configure it for pop-ups and other things, like Clearing everything when you exit. tools>options>privacy tab to clear everything)

I believe Internet Explorer 7 is part of the system for Vista and can not be deleted, but then why are you the only one having this kind of problem, if you think that it is causing a problem then maybe you could just add Firefox instead and use that and see what happens. good luck
