Nope, I rarely notice points really.
Edit: it probably ended up here because you asked it from here, if you know what I mean. There's a little box near the bottom of the screen when you ask a question that you can tick or untick when you ask from a particular section, rather than from your profile or the home page. This lets you post directly in the section you asked from, rather than having to browse through categories.
