theres a time when every one realizes who they are as a person. maybe he's finally found himself and he turned into an asswhole. just let em go and find someone who treats you better. maybe he'll change after you leave

A textbook abuser in the making. They are extremely charming at first, loving, seem like the perfect boyfriend. But once they get very settled into the relationship, their real self emerges. They become controlling, possessive, angry, critical and mean. The playful hitting is a huge red flag. Regular guys don't do that. This is a precursor to real hitting.

I'm very concerned about this - please get out of this relationship before it's too late.

The thrill is gone.
If you are both out of high school and have been dating that long, and he still has not asked you to marry him, then YOU need to move on.
No point in wasting your time with a twit you have clearly outgrown.
There are considerably better and more mature fish in the sea.

I'm in a similar boat. I wish I could help but I'm confused myself.
