Umm, Congress increases spending, not the President. Given that both Reagan's and Bush's tax cuts actually INCREASED tax revenues, I will paraphrase a liberal icon.
It's the spending, stupid!

Republican and Democrat have nothing to do with it. Aside from the fact that congress has more control on taxation and appropriations, it's a matter of political ideals when considering the presidency in the equation. President Bush is a neoconservative. Which essentially means that he supports big government mixed with economic freedom. This has annoyed many, if not all of his true conservative constituents.
Believe it or not, because the term is often misunderstood, Reagan was a quintessential neoliberal. He deregulated things like crazy, and was a major proponent of both small government and economic freedom. The thing is, in dollars and cents, the small amount of government he did run was a vastly expensive military complex to keep up the pace in the middle of the cold war.

It's in the Republican President's employment contracts, in small print: "Double the National Debt, or else".

If you look at your graph and change it from who controlled the White House to who controlled the Congress you would totally reverse the results. The president does not write the budget the congress does.
Notice that budget deficit goes up and up until Newt and the conservative gang took over and then the budget goes down and down till this year when the dems took over and it goes up again but not as much as it would have without Bush's vetoes. Another case of liars figuring.

Candidate Obama ran on economic conservatism and rightly decried Bush deficit spending as unsustainable. He became into easily maximum suitable approximately the two themes. I almost voted for him via fact of it. He got here into workplace and signed one thousand billion dollar stimulus (with hobbies) bill that became into going to give up unemployment from achieving 8% it is now 9.7%. The well being care bill signed into regulation with maximum human beings of human beings announcing they did no longer prefer the bill became into going to cut back the federal debt and fee human beings much less. The CBO says it rather is going to upload 10trillion over the subsequent ten years. Personalty my rates went up sixteen% final month via fact they are going to now be compelled to boost coverages to fulfill federal regulations. it rather is going to fee me 9000 funds over the final. It became into capture that Bush signed and President Obama voted for that became into the genesis of the Tea occasion. The tea occasion have been unwell of Republicans who weren't fiscally accountable a number of them voted for the democrats who in 2006 stated they may well be fiscally accountable via fact the republicans weren't. They lied the republicans lied the tea occasion is independents and republicans who have self belief in smaller federal government and extra person duty. President Obama is Bush on crack. He spends extra funds, limits much extra own freedoms and does it in the call no longer of nationwide risk-free practices yet in the call of fairness. existence isn't honest.

Mostly because they tend to lower taxes, but the government is still spending exorbitantly. So on balance, Democrats tend to increase the national debt; it just takes longer for people to notice.

Obviously, all these people who claim the President has nothing to do with increasing spending, doesn't actually know how the government works.
When a president signs an executive order, someone has to pay for it. It is congress's job to legislate the process to follow that order, and appropriate the money to pay for that order.

You must have an abscessed tooth. The pain may be affecting your brain.
Congress writes and passes all of the spending legislation. It does no matter which party is in charge. Congress spends more than the IRS brings in, thus the reason for the deficits.
Ronald Reagan made a deal with the Democrats to curb spending. They stabbed him in the back.
George Bush has been vetoing spending bills to try to put a small amount of controls on the runaway spending in Congress.

They have pay off their corporate masters with tax payers money, but at the same time the rich want a tax cut, corporate welfare, and lucrative war-making, so the only solution is a huge deficit.
