Assume question is:-
2 / (p + 5) + 3 / (p + 1)
[ 2(p + 1) + 3(p + 5) ] / [ (p + 5) (p + 1) ]
[ 5p + 17 ] / [ (p + 5) (p + 1) ]

Have a good day and use brackets in 2008!

Can't tell if you mean 2/p + 5 or 2/(p+5). same with the 3/p+1???

If you mean 2/p + 5 + 3/p + 1, you get 5/p + 6

If you mean 2/(p+5) + 3/(p+1), we need the common denominator:

2(p+1)/[(p+1)(p+5)] + 3(p+5)/[(p+1)(p+5)]

= (2p + 2 + 3p + 15)/[(p+1)(p+5)]

= (5p + 17) / [(p+1)(p+5)]

that's it! :)

2/(p+5) + 3(p+1)
taking lcm which is (p+1)(p+5) and cross multiplying we get

(2(p+1) + 3(p+5)/(p+1)(p+5) =

(2p + 2 + 3p + 15)/(p+1)(p+5) =
5p +17/(p+1)(p+5)

common denominator is (p+5)(p+1)

(2(p+1) + 3(p+5))/(p+5)(p+1)
=(5p+17)/(p+5)(p+10)

2/p+3/p+1+5=0

2/p+3/p+6=0

2/p+3/p+6p=0

(2+3+6p)/p=0

5+6p=0

6p= -5

p=-5/6

Verification:
for p= -5/6

2*(-6/5)+3*(-6/5)+6=0
-12-18+5*6=0
-30+30=0 (true)->p=-5/6
