So my sister got me a router (Linksys cable/DSL router with4 port switch) I was trying to connect it to my computer but I found that the cable it came with that's supposed to be connected to my computer is too big for the small jack it has in the back. I know that the phone cable fit in there when I used to have dial up. Is there some sort of adapter I can get so that I can fit the cable for the router into my computer through the phone jack? I'm not very good at all this hardware stuff. Thanks in advance!

Are you sure that the cable that you have for your router is not an Ethernet cable and is meant to fit into your Ethernet port and not the modem port.

Disconnect the cable that runs from your modem to your computer and connect it to the input port on the router. Now run a cable from the router to the the port (RJ45) where the internet cable used to connect on the back of your computer.
