a. vacuum with perfect strokes so as to create a nice pattern on the carpet?..
b. just move the vacuum over visible objects and bits of string and dirt?
c. turn the vacuum on and do something else in the same room to make it sound like you're vacuuming?

This is my vacuuming routine:
1. Someone calls to say "We'll be there in 15 minutes!"
2. I turn into a crazy woman and immediately break out the vacuum cleaner.
3. I vacuum for 10 minutes, focusing on the areas w. the biggest dust balls, pet hair, etc.
4. Break out the Swiffer Wet Jet ... which picks up anything I may have missed w. the vacuum.
5. Collapse before guest arrive.
I despise any and all cleaning!

I don't vacuum. Satan lives in there, and I'm afraid he'll escape if I turn it on. Plus, I like the layer of dust and dog hair. It adds some flavor to an otherwise dull floor.

I guess I would say A, even though the carpet in our apartment is that cheap industrial carpet that doesn't leave any patterns.

I have no rhyme or reason... eventually I stop hearing bits of things being sucked up... and that's when I feel I've done my job.
