It's so insulting that they so obviously don't pay attention to who you actually are.

A pair of tights and a bottle of shower foam, from my brother and sister in law, after years of my always buying them INTERESTING and THOUGHTFUL gifts..........this year, its been am challenging and interesting task to find something equally as boring !!!

However, if I do happen to get gifts that are boring or not of my taste, I normally wait a wee while, and then quietly donate them to the local charity shop, so all is not lost at the end of the day.

It is insulting... and hurtful in a way. That is why I dislike gift cards. I consider them to be the most impersonal gift of all. I'd much rather get a nicely written card...

My mom is always off in the gifts she gets me, but I appreciate the effort.

I haven't, but I remember once,
it happened with my sister.
Mine and hers best friend thought that how much the present cost is what matters.

So she got my sister a stuffed pink dog,
it was really girly,
like with diamonds for eyes
and stuff.
My sister at that point was a hard-core rocker
and despised all that overly girly stuff.
And she hates pink.

Um...yeah.

Every year, birthday and Christmas, from my dear sister. She gives me things that SHE likes - I don't want to be ungrateful, but she and I have drastically different tastes in everything, and she knows it! She is almost 17 years older than I am and that does not help. I tried to make her understand, but all I did was make her not want to give me gifts anymore. I just don't understand...

Yes, I put a lot of thought into the gifts that I give to people, my stepsister regifted me some smoked salmon and told me 'I was sure that you would like this', WRONG it was nasty, she just figures any gift looks better than none!!

Yeah, it was a Chicago Bulls sweatshirt. I mean, I like it when they win and all, but I'm not a sports kinda guy.

well, not me, but my mother. She's allergic to chocolate and one year her older sister sent her a huge basket full of chocolate in all different forms. She wasn't trying to kill her, she was just that clueless.
