How did the alcoholic Irish stereotype start?
and does (now don't go mad) it have any truth to it?
Like do we drink anymore then any other country?

I think all Europeans like to drink not just the Irish.
I come from a long line of alcoholics from Ukraine,Germany and yes my stepdad was Irish and he could tie one on.
The weather is cold and the winter nights long so they did need something to warm them up.
I live part-time in Hungary and they love thier wine and brandy so Irish are not alone.
