Ever thought that you just gave the best answer in the history of Y/A, then wait patiently for the praise and numerous thumbs up, and nothing?!! Anyone relate?

Yes.

This one isn't a good example.

I always try to give good answers. I don't wait for the applause or best answer. I give it my best shot and if they like it I will be picked, if not no sweat off me. Heck, I didn't even realize about the thumbs down trolls out there until recently when it was in a Q. I've had my fair share of them like any one else.

I am afraid I do not quite get your question. Of course I answer questions on YQA. Over 150 of them have been chosen as the Best answers, though not The Best Answer. But that does not matter. In any case while there is a s ense of s atisfaction and of being of some use to a fellow traveller it does not evoke any other, overtly ecstatic ,feelings. Most of them are ordinary, day to day matters and not quite abstruse matters.

Yeah it's happened to me, but some people just don't know a good answer when the see one, or they just pick the stupidest one as the best one... WTF?

Also it has a lot to do with people's opinions. Usually if someone's answer has a lot of thumbs up, that is a good indication of a good answer.

Alot! Sometimes I think my answers are so clever and witty, that I will win over Y/A, and everyone will want to be my friend. Then.....I don't get the best answer recognition, and I get a buttload of thumbs down, and the fantasy is gone.

I'll let you know if I get any on this question.

Sure it happens along with questions that no one answers and dumb questions that get dozens of remarks and no answers.
But your correct the thumbs seem to be used more in some areas over others.

Good Question (if the comments make you feel better)

Nope. I put no stock in anything on this website. It's purely for fun and to pass the time. I don't care one way or another. I do get a little passionate about some of my answers, but I do not get emotional lol.

No, I don't ever do anything looking for praise and thumbs up. That is an egotistical way of thinking.
