Hi! I live in Miami and have a friend who just got a ticket for his tinted windows. He went to a place to get the back windows tinted and they put the legal 20% of light, which even car from dealers have. He got stopped by a cop with his front windows down, the cop just looked at the back windows, supposed the front windows were the same way and gave him a ticket of $300 dollars! What can he do? He has the legal tints in the back and the front ones are without them.

He should challenge the ticket in traffic court. If he has the legal tinted windows it should be dismissed. I see hundreds of cars in Miami with the darkest limo tinted windows all over and I wonder how they get away with it. State patrols here are petty minded a-hoes anyway. They're always stopping people for minor offenses but never seem to get the ones who drive 90 mph on I-95 and weave back and forth between lanes without signals. Every day someone does it and could easily cause a multi car pile up. They usually have dark tinted windows too.

I live in L.A. -so I don't know if it is the same there, but I believe that if he got a ticket, it would include a day to appear in court to state his case, or to pay the fine. I believe he could take pix of the car -from the inside and out, to show that the front windows are not tinted. He could also go to the person who installed the tint & get a statement swearing that the tint was legal. In other words, use his day in court to fight the ticket. Worst possible outcome, he would have to pay the fine, and even then the court will allow it to be paid out over time...

Wow!!! so he didn't get a warning ticket. I suggest that he takes the ticket to the station or court and have them take a look at the car. Here in Caifornia we get warning tickets we have to take off the tints then go to court to show them that its been takem off and the court dismisses the ticket. Good Luck!!! Dont give up. Unless you want to pay.
