my boyfriend is a butcher and we have been together for 3 years, at the moment as it so close to xmas he is working 14 hours a day. last night i cooked dinner and waited for him to come home but instead i got a text message at 8 o'clock saying he had just finnished work and was going for a few drinks so i ate my dinner and left his in the oven to keep warm, but at midnight he still was not home so i went to bed. at 2 o'clock i heard him trying to get the key in the door and eventually when he did get in he fell over the coffee table and staggered upstairs, i told him to sleep in the spare room as he stank of booze. he was ment to start work at 5am this morning but woke up at 7am, i didnt offer him a lift to work as i normally do when hes late and i know he wont be home till gone 8 tonight, we are ment to be going to my mums christmas party tonight as she wont be here for christmas day and i just know after last night he will be knackered, im so angry! but should i be mad at him?

Yes be mad. That is TOTALLY disrespectful. But on another note talk to him and forgive him, but that behavior is not fair and rude. Communication is key, let him know whats up and how you feel. Give him a cup of coffee for the visit to your mums...that might help...

Is this a rare thing? or does he get loaded all the time?
It sounds like he is a hard working man, and if he just
went out with some buds and over did it at the holidays
then don't make to much of a fuss. Who paid for the meal
that you cooked? Who was late and had the headache?
Do you want to have a nice time at your parents or do you want to start a fight?
Let it go,

Oh man! My boyfriend does this to me too! He is probably stressed from working 14 hour days and needed to let his hair down so to speak but it isn't very considerate. I would be mad but I think for the sake of the party you just need to let it go. If you are angry with him he will probably just get mad back, if your good to him he will appreciate it and then once a few days has passed maybe then tell him that it annoyed you. It is so annoying when they do this but after all men are from Mars and this is what they do to un-wind sometimes.
Grrrrrrr!

no, it's funny he'll be the one suffering. you should know what its like after a hard days work how a nice drink is and how one turns in to two lol. if you had told him that you had a dinner cooked would he have come home and tonight if you want to get him back best way is to tease him for example take a picture of your self in your underwear then wait till you get to the party and text it to him while he's talking to your family and watch him sweat but you've got to play it really cool lol have fun

Personally I would be a bit mad that he isn't sharing his time fairly, is you had made a meal for the both of you he should have come home and spent that time with you and then have gone for a drink - there was enough time if he was only coming in a 2am. Tell him how you feel, as only honesty will help - you deserve a meal cooked for you! x

yes i think you should be mad, for him to do that because you have been together for 3 years and he skipped out on your planned dinner. and the fact that he was out getting drinks from 8 to 2 in the morn ing is beyond me. its the holidays and her should be spending time with you. Good luck, and Merry christmas.

It's Christmas!!! He is probably going to be invited out with friends from work etc. If he is working that hard to provide for himself and you he needs a break and a good time! Let him be!!!

I would be upset but he has been working such long hours that he just needed to do something to relax. He is probable stressed out. Just let it go and enjoy the holiday. ♥♥

sure you should be mad, but not too mad, it's christmas and if he doesn't do it all the time, then just let it ride. everyone lets their hair down now and then. he will be shame faced later and make it up to you

the poor beggar just needed to let off steam after all that hard work...don't make him go to your mothers, just tell her he has the flu and give him a night off. Then when he feels better, tell him how crap you felt.
