I own a 94 Toyota Camry. It was just given to me last year, w/ only 60k miles. It just broke down due to a human error (it had no coolant and the engine fried)

Is it worth replacing the engine I wonder, or should I just put the money towards a new vehicle

if the car body is in good shape 60,000 miles is pretty low mileage and I would say it's worth putting a new engine in it, it would be cheaper than getting another car and it should last you for quite awhile.

Certainly. Camry's are noted for their longevity and reliability. I am assuming that this is a 4 Cyl with only one cylinder head. You can fix it yourself with a little determination. It is a great learning experience and will teach you a lot. Get some tools and get busy!!! You will need to remove the head, and have it cleaned and resurfaced at a machine shop. Change the timing belt and water pump now, as well. Use only genuine Toyota parts, including the coolant!!! It is formulated to protect aluminum and plastic parts better than the "green" stuff. If this proves to be too much for you, you can find a great used engine on the Internet. Car-part.com is very useful. Fixing it yourself should cost around $250 or so in parts and machining. Paying someone else to do it is substantially more. When you're done, use only synthetic oil, like Mobil One. See you again at 260,000 miles !!!! Good Luck!!

Not worth a new engine. If you like to fix things, you could toy with the idea of fixing it, but if not, scrap it.
