Network hub is just a device for connecting multiple Ethernet devices together, making them act as a single network segment. Hubs work at the physical layerof the OSI model. The device is thus a form of multiport repeater. Network hubs are also responsible for forwarding a jam signal to all ports if it detects a collision.
switches are intelligent hub which provide one one to connection unlike hub which just broadcasts the received message.

A Hub is like a social group, but for computer networking. You can join a Hub to gain more popularity with your "products" such as songs, movies, or images. Hubs are mostly found on software such as D3. If someone sees a Hub with 3,00 people and a Hub with 300, they will most likely choose the first one. That is the main purpose of a Hub.
