I've used one of those, it's really only good for buying like a drink and a newspaper quickly but last time I used one the Item I was buying was marked wrong so I had to wait 10 minutes for an employee, which kind of defeated the purpose of using the machine.

I don't have the self checkout grocery stores, but we have some self checkouts at our Home Depot.
Oh man let me tell you when we were redoing our house I had nightmares where all I heard was "Item removed from baggage area"
I actually went kinda nuts in there one time telling a machine to "STFU"
If you buy just a box a screws you have to jump up and down on the baggage area, just to get it to shut up!!

I would rather stand in a long line behind 47 other people and wait 2 hours to have a REAL person check me out .....
I despise those things ....!
It is bad enough I have to work full-time and hold down a job, take care of my kids AND their pets .... and 142 other things ... and NOW I am required to WORK at the grocery store, too ...?
NO WAY !!!!
:)
Join me in the revolt against 'Self Check Out's'!

I've never had that problem....it's usually pretty quick for me. Although, when I have a whole cartload of groceries, I go to a regular cashier. But I still help bag. Nothing wrong with that. Gets me home that much quicker.

I agree, I would much rather have some chick snapping gum ringing my stuff up. It takes a lot longer (and it does always seem like SOMETHING is going to happen) when you go through those self checkout lanes.

It's even worse at Wal-mart and you're trying to buy products for cars that are dangerous if inhaled or even buying a rated R movie. I make sure I don't have to go through, because it takes more time than a regular checkout.

I've never had a problem with them. And I find it funny watching people get mad at the machines because THEY don't know where the bar code is. I always use them, just for the comedy of them. I still wish someone would put a giant red LED on the top of them and program in the "Hal" voice. From 2001, Space Odyssey.

I refuse to use the self check out. As much money as I spend in stores the least they could do is to check me out. Not to mention I don't feel like saving them money by checking myself out so they can get away with using less cashiers.

I love the self serving, It's experiencing what it is like packing your own groceries.

we go to the store, walk all over the place sometimes not finding what we need, pay for over priced items and our reward is getting to bag our own stuff.
if we have to all of that then we should get paid!
