Hi all, we had Jacuzzi Holiday Party at a friend's house last night. And everybody was having fun feeling good about themeselves and plenty of alcohol was served. There were a few women at the party that didn't bring any swimsuit, but instead they went in just in their Bra and Panties. They were given by weird looks by men and women alike. And it occured to me, when women wear their bikini or thong swimsuit its okay, but embarassed when seen in their bra or panties? Please explain?

Because we are nutty. But seriously, bra and panties are underwear, bikinis are bathing suits. Its socially unacceptable to be caught in your underwear, but I get your point. Some bikinis look just like underwear anyhow.

I also have wondered the same. I don't have an answers as to why, other than swim suits generally have a heavy lining within, to conceal nipples and "camel toe" more so than wet bras and panties which cling to skin more so than a swim suit with fabrics designed for contact with water.

Now, the only reason I can think of for the weird looks at your party may be just for hygienic reasons. A swim suit is meant to be put on right before entering public water areas, rather than underwear which you may have had on for how many hours before and may contain small quantities of urine etc from going to the bathroom earlier. Sorry to be graphic but I'm just trying to make the point on hygiene. So maybe that's why the strange looks from other guests. It wouldn't bother me, but I'm just trying to put myself in their shoes.

Good question. It's wierd...I guess cuz bras and panties are considered 'underwear' and bikinis are...well...just swimsuits. It's kinda the same with guys. They probably would get embarassed if cought in their boxers, but what about their swiming shorts?

I cant, I dont get embarassed in my bra at all. My bathing suit is more revealing than my bra ya know? I get a lil embarassed in my thong cuz my bathing suit isnt a thong. But otherwise ur right who cares!? Its just uptight people wanting to complain about something.

Mankind is a rationalizing animal, not a rational animal. Quote Robert Heinlein ain't that ennuff sed? Also, why do rational adults feel the need to wear anything at all at private Jacuzzi parties?

Well... probably because bikinis are bought with the knowledge that they'll be seen by others, no matter how small they are. You're underwear though... that's more of a personal choice who you show it to. I guess it has to do with the perception of intimacy attributed to underclothes. Or maybe the other people were just jealous that they didn't feel comfortable enough to strip themselves... =)

that is a godo question. Bras usually cover more area anyways. now depending on the underwear that's a different situation. I think I would be uncomfortable in my bra and underwear too. I don't know what it is. Usually underwear is supposed to be saved for you and that special someone I guess thats why they were given bad looks

Because the general population is composed of sheep, and somebody somewhere said underwear is not to be seen, while swimsuits can be seen by everyone. So now that swim suits come in micro sizes and underwear has been supersized I don't really see the point in any of it.

nope! they both cover the same areas, so if I dont bring my suit then it's bra and panties for me! If people r goin to give weird looks, then they r either shocked or need to be told it covers the same as a bikini!!!
