Severe allergies run in my family. I may be having children soon and was wondering if there's anything you can do during the pregnancy to prevent the baby from having them. Thanks.

I don't think so. You may want to avoid some of the most common allergens, like peanuts, but it's unproven if this is actually effective. Talk to the doctor who cares for your allergies, as well as your pregnancy caregiver.

there is no such medication to prevent allergy of baby during pregnancy, the only thing i can advice you is when the time the child start eating at the age of 6 months i will recommend to give 1 kind of food in a day so you can easily recognize the food that can cause the baby allergy and prevent giving it again

Do not expose yourself to cigarette or cigar smoke. If you smoke, quit immediately if you are able.

Avoid air fresheners, and burning scented candles. Ask friends to avoid wearing strong perfumes or colognes around you. Seek out good fresh air.

Don't be so particular about having a super-clean house. DO clean your home to remove dust and air-born particles. But avoid the fancy cleaning products.

Repeated exposure to harsh cleaning products can trigger allergies, sometimes to materials not easily connected to the cleansers. Especially avoid products that leave any type of scent in the air.

Think of scent particles in the air as air-pollution that covers up poor cleaning or inadequate ventilation.

That's tough to say about genetics, but- some people are saying that over protecting a baby in too sterile an environment may not promote a good immune system workout in the beginning, and they are more easily attacked later.

I've been told by my family that the more you are around something, the more imune your child will be. For example. A lot of people in my family are allergic to cats, besides me and a few others, and I was told if I was around cats during my pregnancy most likley the child will not be allergic to them. I don't know if it's true or not, but we'll see!

I don't about while you're pregnant but breast feeding after the baby is born is the best way to ensure that your giving the baby your antibodies to give them a headstart on there immune system but try to expose yourself to different types of food while your pregnant everything you take in the baby gets it as well:) good luck
