Google Adsense is Google's advertising program. If you have a website, you can go to google.com/adsense to enroll in their program.

The goal of Google's Adsense is to supply your website with targeted ads. It looks at your website, determines from what you've written there what your site is about, and searches its advertisers to find the "best" advertisers for your exact site.

The reason why best is in quotes is that while Google Ads will make you money (they are very good at picking money-making ads for your site), they will also pick weird ads that you've probably never heard of. A lot of times this is good, but sometimes they'll put up ads for companies or products you don't believe in.

The biggest advantage of Google Ads is their HUGE set of advertisers they work with. This means that they many advertisers will be competing to advertise on your site (making you more money). This also means that someone in Korea can look at your site and see targeted ads that relate to them instead of American ads that you might have selected yourself.
