Yes, poor Grandma she wasnt very "with it". She often got me a little china poodle or a tea cup. One year it was those poodle things that changed colour according to the weather?

I always went shopping with my mother so she wouldnt waste money on something the kids wouldnt wear - and gently steered her towards the sales rack with "cool" clothes. Or put in a word for ninja turtles or whatever ..

When the kids became teenagers she just gave them both a cheque for $50

I bought my Grandson a new skate board last night. I decided I am spending my ENTIRE xmas budget on him this year seeing as he is the nicest and most loving and fun of the whole damn bunch. He's my buddy. It was on sale !! $50
I asked two teenagers in the store to help me pick out one that was "real cool".

Christmas shopping done. :-)

So I think this is one "Grandma" who isnt going to have the grandson, or grand "children" rolling their eyes and dreading opening the presents I give to them.

Well i loved everything my grandmother gave me. i am a child of the 80's and i remember when the cabbage patch kids came out and where in high demand. My father had a job at John Deere and there was a huge layoff. So money was real tight. On Christmas morning my grandmother handed me a box. Inside was a doll that she made. it really looked like a cabbage patch doll. She passed away about 5 yrs after that from breast cancer. My grandmother also knitted some things. i appreciated everything she made for me. it was stuff from the heart. I miss her so much and i would love to have another Christmas with a homemade gift from her.

When I was growing up I was very happy with what I got from my grandmas. One would make us house shoes every year. I would love to have another pair of them now that she had made. She has been gone for years now. My other grandma would get us all kinds of stuff.

My kids only have one grandma now and that is my mom. They love what she gets for them too. As they know in time they will not have a grandma to give them any thing.

I only had one grandmother while I was growing up, the other passed when I was 3.

The grandmother favored the other grands over my side of the family,if she gave us anything at all it would be a snow hat. The others got toys and real presents.

My sons always liked what their grandmothers gave to them. It was my one type of present that they still make fun of me to this day. Clothes, mainly shirts. They hated my taste then. But now some of those shirts would be in style.

Unfortunately , my mother only gave to my sister's kids. My son would have been happy with a card.

my kids usually got stuff they wanted because I was young and grandma was fairly young, so she knew what they wanted (no knitted scarves).
