Harvest is harvest and surely he came at the time of Harvest, not in the end of the year as you have been tricked to believe.

It was more than likely sometime in late March or early April. It was Pope Liberius who created a mass celebrating the birth of Christ. It was called the Christ Mass and was first celebrated on Dec 25, 354 A.D.
EDIT:
To Spiderman,
It is not a lie. No one, including the church is saying that Christ was born on Dec 25. No where in the bible does is say that Christ was born on Dec 25. It is a mass, that is celebrated on Dec 25, to rejoice in the birth of Christ.
Another EDIT:
Hey Spidey, chill your spidey senses a bit and here is the history of Santa.
It goes back to 300 A.D. when a Turkish orphan inherited money and wealth from an uncle he had never seen. He used his wealth to help children. There was also St. Nick, a dutch man who was known by his generosity to the poor and sick and children. Somewhere along the line Santa Claus was born and he exists because he is the spirit of giving. Christianity and Claus somewhere got mingled as the Christ child was given gifts and mass that started in 354 A.D. celebrated the birth of Christ.

I'm sure I can pick ripe citrus in December. How similar are the climates of Bethlehem and Florida? I don't know.
Several scholars would estimate that the birth if Jesus was sometime in September which would indeed be harvest. It was moved to December and near the winter solstice to replace Saturnalia, a pagan celebration. No offense, pagans. You can keep celebrating Saturnalia if you want to.

Mary was not the one with the tree. That was Eve.
It's true that Jesus's real birthday is not Dec 25. It's a day designated to be. When I attended parochial school as a child, a nun said to me that Jesus was more than likely born in March. There is a minor holyday that recognizes this...but it's considered Lady Day or Annunciation, his incarnation, not his birth.
Check it out: there are some who say Jesus's actual calcuated birthday is Sept 11 in the year 3 BC. Bizarre, no? especially in light of recent historic events that occurred on that day. I'll leave a link and you can then decide for yourself whether or not it's bunk or plausible.

First of all get the story straight you are mixing up two different stories. This is the date that we celebrate his birth Nothing else matters.

And this matters how?
On the topic of your question, do you have any eyewitness reports of Mary picking fruit, or any 3rd party writings that verify any of the Gospels? No, then while it may not be suprising that Jesus existed, it can not be accepted as fact.

Who cares if it's not on the exact day? As long as we celebrate and acknowledge the birth of Christ, the rest doesn't matter to me.

There are so many theories as to when he was born and they center around March - September.
Here are some cool links discussing his birh possibly being in March http://www.didyouknow.cd/xmas/Jesus.htm ., and September http://www.truthortradition.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=467
They both have really good arguments.

i think we all know this. jesus wasn't born in december. yadda yadda yadda. december 25th is a CELEBRATION of his birth.
...and before you go into rhetoric about how it's a pagan holiday...we all know the story behind that too. you're not telling us anything new!
