Last realistic thing I heard about it was that NASA predicts the ice will melt in 2012 and one way or another will end the world. So I guess we should listen to Al Gore.
Unfortunately even if it was proven by science, and on a stone that descended from heaven and said "The ice is going to melt in 2012, the only way to prevent it is to listen to Al Gore". The scientists who could actually help would say "wait this can't have come from God (we can't be wrong all these years) we need to spend all our time proving that instead of saving the world". The religious who believe the message says "AL GORE A LIBERAL, I'll listen to him when he kisses my @$$" Then all the sensible people wouldn't do anything because there was to little of them to make a difference. Not to mention all the war and debate that would be going on. So that is how the world ends, and I would imagine it all goes back to Ronald Regan, possibly Vietnam, which leads back to Communism, world war 2, world war 1, I guess that was because of Europe. So If you follow it all the way back I would imagine it all started when civilization began.

No one truly knows when the world will end so please don't let this bother you. Relax! Enjoy whatever time you have here on this earth because whether the world ends today or in another million years all you can depend on is NOW - so don't waste in on negative possibilities. Some people live very long lives, some live only a short while and others die within the womb so do all you can to find peace and happiness while helping to make the lives of others peaceful and happy also. That way, whenever you depart from this world you would have made it a more beautiful place.
Have a blessed day!

The world is not ending. The 2012 talk refers to the end of the astrological age of Pisces. The actual date is somewhat sketchy but isusually placed sometime between 1997 and 2051. The number 2012 was taken from the Mayan calendar.
I wouldn't get all worked up about it.

On December 24, 2007 there is an astrological/astronomical conjunction of Mars, Earth, Sun, Mercury, Jupiter, and the Galactic Center, as well as a full moon. I'd say that's a better candidate than 2012 if you're gonna believe in such things.

Perhaps 'end' is the wrong word to use here. If you finish reading a book, the book itself does not then pass into eternal-non-existence, & neither do you. Eternal-non-existence, is infinite, but only 1 infinite reality. The questions then becomes, in what order will the following reach an infinite reality: Time, the world & you?
And what infinite reality will it be?

Most of the people who believe thse things also believe that they and their friends will be among the small group to be "saved".
They enjoy being special and thinking that the rest of us will suffer.
