Tell everyone you bought a star and named it after them....how will they know the difference? OK seriously, I hurts a bit inside when you can't do for others what you feel they deserve due to income...but remember the meaning of Christmas. I always appreciate the thoughtfullness of the gift..no matter how big or small (hate giftcards..they show no thought was put into it) You can do so many things if you really think about that person and what they enjoy in their life. Or you can write them letters stating specifically what they've added to your life--life lessons they taught you that makes you the better person today for having been taught lessons from them. Show them you really care about your relationship with them and that you've noticed all these wonderful things they contribute to the world. It will mean a lot t0 them. May the new year bring you new prospects for a better income.

No matter what age or gender, a homemade coupon book with things you are willing to do would be a hit. My son gave me this once when he was little, and I've done it myself several times for friends when I was broke. You make a list of things you can do like, Wash the car, Take out the Trash, Help take down the tree, etc...and the person tears it out of the coupon book to cash in on it in the future. For adults it could be, Go on a picnic, Take a Walk with You, A Movie Date, etc

Make something. :) You can make holiday decorations really easily, or a christmas ornament. A hand made christmas card...
Maybe go out for a walk in a park or something - sometimes just doing stuff together is better than any gift.
