With the money received, the receivers can save it to the bank for the future. The gifts, on the other hand, will take the gift-giver much time to shop. Why not just give Cash as a gift?

I would get a gift. I just had a baby so I have very little money. If I go out and shop around, I can find something on a really good sale. So, I give a gift that was originally $75 for only $25. If I were to give the equivalent value in cash, it would be $75. So I save money and they get a better gift at the same time. It is just more economical for me to spend a little time finding a gift.

I give either a check or a gift card on some years. Other years I do the shopping for everyone and give actual gifts.

That is a great idea. I'm 15 and my family doesn't really know what I like so they just give me money or a gift card and it's awesome.

I think you can if you give down to the lower age people in the family but never give money to your parents or aunts and uncles etc

/ I give each of my 3 children $10,000.00

I see what they do with it, and how far it carries over into the next year.

One has more money at the end of the year, one has spent all of it, but wisely, and one can't remember what happened to it so quickly.
