Stan has been a fixture of New York hockey since the 40's. I would definitely trust his accuracy. However, I agree that its not as interesting as someone with his knowledge & contacts as well as his normally strong opinion, could have done. Maybe story telling is just not his strong suit.

The book is extremely accurate and it's a great book.

Stanley Fischler has published hundreds of books on the National Hockey League. Along with Brian McFarlane, one of the two most knowledgeable and authoritative hockey jornalist/writers.

one of the all time great sports writers the problem is with no disrespect , time like so many of us has passed him by . thrse are his atricles per say . the book is just a collection of his newspaper articles . i have not seen the book , but have had the misfortune of reading similar supposedly authorised books this would fall into the catagory of not being stans book , just a publishing company making money over outdated newspaper materials . travelling by train , with nhl players definatly not his book . just a host of newspaper articles . his book would hospitalise many people with pulled stomach muscles from laughing so hard thank you

Stan can be reliable, but if he doesn't like you, your dead. Ask Bobby Orr who isn't and has never been on Stan's top10 list ot alltime greatest
