Ok i sent my son a special delivery on the 19th of Dec and he had to sign for it because it contained a cheque, he calls me this morning and told me that he recieved his parcel (xmas present) which i sent the same day, BUT he still hasn't recieved the card with the cheque inside, we called the post office and their answering service gave us a website address, we looked for a contact number and address but theres nothing....has anyone else sent someone something in the post and they have not yet had it...or has someone sent YOU something through the post and have not yet got it? i am thinking theres a delay because of the christmas rush, because only my son can sign for the card i sent him...so who's waiting on something through the post and has not yet recieved it? UK delivery service sucks...

Dels...your prolly right mate, i did leave it to the last minute because my wages went into the bank too late so the latest i could have sent it was the 19th, it's weird that his package arrived though and not the special delivery letter

yes Riggs i mean't recorded delivery, the package was just a regular 1st class delivery, that arrived yesterday, but not card, maybe theres a back log with it being christmas, but i will cancel the cheque on Monday if it's not delivered today....thankyou...

Jim...i really hope that the package gets to you so you can give them earrings to your granddaughter, i would hate them to end up in the wrong hands...they are worthless to anyone else but they have great value to you...bless you...x

id put it down to the christmas rush.........our postman is always late, but yesterday he didnt roll up while 4:30. you say special delivery?
so im guessing you paid for recorded delivery.
if so did you send them both by this...the parcel and the letter containing the cheque? if so and he doesnt receive it by monday,i would be tempted to cancel the cheque at your bank. and then re-issue it,or take your sons bank details and transfer the cash into his account.good luck anyway.

I was waiting for something very important to me last week and I was getting worried but it arrived eventually(that was a parcel).
Letters can be delayed I would imagine due to the ammount of post - I hope that he gets it alright.

Edit - jms that would be awful - don't give up they may turn up yet (and if they don't follow up on it).
The package that I was waiting for was of a similar nature but the contents wouldn't have been of any use to anyone else.
Good luck!

Methinks you left it a week too late. I am waiting for a large sum of money by cheque.. Senders say it will be despatched before christmas but will not probably arrive until New Year. Then pay it in and clear, probably middle of January till the money is available//

I have been waiting for a package as well. My daughter sent a pair of my dead wife's earrings, so that I could give them to my granddaughter, but I guess someone in the postal system is going to have a happy Christmas, not us.

Well, it's not much better here in the US let me tell you. I sent my family's gifts to Puerto Rico last year on Dec 2nd... they didn't get the box until January the 4th!!! It was supposed to be a 3 day delivery! I spent all last Christmas feeling horrible that my niece and nephew didn't have their presents from me on Christmas Day. I spoke to USPS employees here and in PR and no one knew what happened. I ordered everything on-line this year and let them ship it. It seems to reach people better than if I send it myself...

Sorry about your predicament... hope your son gets the card soon. =)

Heard a story once.... in Italy they had 6 months of back up undelivered mail with no one to deliver it. So what does Italy do with it?? They burn it! The US postal service is AWESOME! :)
