I've read the book and seen the movie. The both are making it look as if the Church (which means Christianity and God) is trying to hide the truth about the world and is keeping man-kind from being as pure and clean as possible. Yes I have to admit the book and movie is good, but the constant showing that God is bad and demons (or daemons) are cute and cuddly pets that love you, make them both bad. So Christian groups are fighting it cuz it's sort of like bashing Christianity saying, in a way, "God is a bad guy trying to keep us from superiority" So yes they both are anti-God, but they are...... interesting.

Because the maker of the movie is an atheist and he is try to get others to become atheists. He wrote books about people killing God and such and such. So he's trying to get people to watch The Golden Compass so that they'll like it. Then in future he's gonna try to make more movies but this time about killing God. The Golden Compass it's self is NOT a bad movie.

I'm a christian and I don't see any problem with a movie that has this stuff in it. I read a manga, watch an anime and saw a movie called Death Note and a guy tries to become a god by killing X amount of criminals and people who stand in his way. I have no problem with it. Reason is, this is FICTIONAL!

This movie is only anti-religious if you alow yourself to see it that way. some people see it as an anti-religious story, I see it as a good fantasy story that shouldn't be seen by children until they are at least 16 and have a very firm grasp on their religion.

2 Peter 2:1-3 : But there were also false prophets in Israel, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will cleverly teach their destructive heresies about God and even turn against their Master who bought them. Many will follow their evil teaching and shameful immorality. And because of them,Christ and his true way will be slandered. IN THEIR GREED THEY WILL MAKE UP CLEVER LIES TO GET HOLD OF YOUR MONEY. But God condemned them long ago,and their destruction is on the way.

The guy who wrote the books is atheist. The first book that really talks about killing God is the third one and a little bit of the second. The first two books were made to get people hooked to the books then the third one went and killed God, or killed a guy named God. Kawinkadink that its a guy named God... I personally don't think so.

The movie is relatively benign. The problem with it is that it is made from a series of books which, if a child loves the movie, they will want to read. The author of the books is an atheist that is not content to go to Hell alone, he tries to spread atheism. The children's book series culminates in the lead characters killing God.

There are certian secrets spilling out more and more as the word spreads of evolution in our school systems.

Notice that Christians will fight media such as this because they have fear in there hearts. Fear acts as an Instict and they feel the need to defend the words of a Savior, even if he was not completley honest. Though most do not understand specifics and TRUE MEANINGS to religion and most just act as sheep. One brillant mind can control the actions of millions.

Ok... This guy who wrote the books is an atheist, and his books are about killing God. The movie has been made less violent in this way than the books were, but if kids like the movie, and read the books, they are reading about killing God. As a Christian, I find this horrible, and will definatlely NOT go see it, for that reason.

Wikipedia.com gives some of the explanation of why it is anti-Christian, or you could google it for reviews.
