When I was young I went through a Million different things that I wanted to be.
First I wanted to be a Mechanic like my dad.
Then I wanted to join the Army like my dad.
Then it was a Farmer like my Uncle.
Then an Astronaut.
Police Officer.
Fire Fighter.
Burglar.
Writer.
Actor.
Stand Up Comic.
Small Business Owner.
And several other things.
Today, I have been in the Army for Seven years. I hated it. Now I live in Florida. I am a Security Guard in an Embassy Suites Hotel. I am looking for a better job.
I have done Stand Up Comedy Twice in Small comedy clubs on armature mic nites. I have also helped some college film students make a movie for a class project. I acted in it. I was a Zombie. But so far, I have no plans on doing any of that stuff I mentioned professionally. I do intend to work for NASA, but not as an Astronaut.

When I was very small I wanted to be an air hostess but as I became a teenager, all that changed and I wanted to be a hairdresser. Well, in those days, you didn't get paid whilst training -you paid them to be trained and lived off tips. Well, that was no good, so I got a job in the office of a local factory and every week I bought the 'Hair-do' magazine and learned LOADS.
After a couple of years , I left to have my children and soon found myself a single mum. I had to find a job as DHSS didn't pay enough to live on. I worked full-time in an hotel until I retired last year and very rarely go to the hairdresser -preferring to do it myself and travel by plane as often as possible!

I wanted to be a nurse. For as long as I can remember I wanted to go into nursing and in 1971 when I was 14yrs of age I got a voluntary job in a hospital in Scotland (the RSNH in Larbert). It was a hospital for children and adults with Downs, cerebral palsy and other conditions. I worked there until I left school and then I became a Nursing Assistant. I wasn't old enough to start nursing training at that point but 2 days before I was due to go to Nursing college I was involved in a car accident which put paid to my nursing career due to having had severe internal injuries (had my spleen and just over half of my liver removed). It was one of the hardest times in my life to have to decide on a new career as I had never thought of anything else! I flitted about in various jobs until I became a Nanny. I worked for several famillies in Scotland and England and I even worked in France for a year which was lovely....like a very long holiday.
My main job though that I have achieved and still do......wife and mother.....the pay isn't so good in a monetary sense but the rewards are immense and it is the most fulfilling job in the world and one which I would recommend to any woman!!

At the age of 6 i knew i wanted to be in the electrical trade and yes im a fully registered electrical engineer.....
When i was 6 my mother and father needed a new vacum cleaner and in those days the only one to have was a Hoover brand. These machines had metal handles and my dad wired the plug top up wrong... he connected the green cable to the Live connection bless him... lol.
Being the egar sole i was to be the one to test out the cleaner for the first time i ran over and grabbed the handle and ended up being thrown across the room after recieving a shock..... at that point i wasnt affraid of electricity but i wanted to know more about it....
I trained as an electrical engineer in the late 70's and now i run my own electrical company....
The guys i have working for me have a great respect for me as they know i understand the job they do and have done it myself in the past

A single mother
I'm not kidding. My mother was single mother and she would take care of us and then made sure we were ok and then take off to have fun with her friends. I remember women in our neighborhood talking about how their husbands wouldn't let them do that. However, I never knew, until I was old enough, how tough it was for my mother to keep food on the table and that sometimes she just wanted to explode with all the things she had to keep inside having no other adult in the home to share these with.
No, I'm not.

When I was little, I wanted to grow up and do something constructive and interesting with my hands and my mind.
I do that now - I'm an electronic engineer.
