I bought a new SATA hard disk to add to my current 160 GB SATA hard disk. CMOS and device manager apears to detect my new hard disk. So i look up at "My Computer" to format my new hard disk but is nowhere to be found. Only my DVD drives and old partitioned hard disk can be found. What do I do to finally use my new hard disk?

I assume you have XP or Vista. They will not "see" the drive untill it is partitioned or formatted. Go to control panel, admin tools, computer management, disk management. In disk manager find your new drive, right click on it, select create partition, then format it.

Windows can not detect the hard drive until it is formatted. If the drive came with software, use it to do the format. If not you will need to use an XP cd. I would disconnect the "C" drive and then run the software. It should boot from the CD dirve. After you have formatted the new drive reconnect the "C" drive making sure that it is attached to the primary or number 1 sata tap.
