the last week or so i have been feeling 'heavy' in the lower abdomen. like baby is all cooped up below my belly button. also i have been getting sharp pains 'down there' and like a poking sensation in my cervix. and i have been feeling movements very low down past the bikini area.

does this sound to you like baby's head is engaging?
isn't 32 weeks a little too early, this is my third baby but i don't really recall what it feels like when the head engages.

should i contact my midwife?

im currently pregnant with my 3rd and i cant remember what it felt like when the other 2 engaged...but im feeling exactly what you are feeling..i know i have dropped,i went into labor @ 33 weeks adn they stopped it because that is too early..their chances are great at surviving its just due to complications and their stay in the NICU..now the doc says at almost 35 weeks they would let me deliver because im closer to 37 weeks which is term...but u should go get checked so they can hook u up to the monitor to see if your having contractions that might not be felt, adn to check your cervix...good luck!

Definetly check it out with your doctor...better to be safe than sorry!! 32 weeks is early but survival rates are VERY high for your baby! I had my daughter at 32 weeks, she also happened to be my first and I had no idea what was going on!! She spent a month and a half at the NICU and now she is home with us...she's just over 2mths old now! It was very scarey to see her so small but she was in great hands and is doing very well right now!
So don't worry too much if your baby comes alittle early, doctors are trained very well to handle these situations and if he/she is early....NICU nurses are an amazing bunch of people!
Goodluck and make sure you see your doc...if anything to give you peace of mind!!

you do not need to contact your dr unless you start contracting regularly. 32 weeks isn't too early for the baby to drop it can still develope while engaged. theres nothing to worry about. your baby dropping cervix dilating mucus plug coming out none of it is a sign that labor is near. it just means that your baby is getting ready. which is good some womens babys don't fully come down until labor and some don't even then and have to push harder and longer.

Most babies "lock into" position (vertex vs. breech) by 32 weeks, so more than likely your baby will stay head first. As far as being engged, the real test of early delivery is preterm dilation and/or effacement of your cervix, not engagement.

The baby's head engaged feels like someone crammed a bowling ball up your chachaweewee.

My son was engaged, like station 3 from 31 weeks until birth.

It could be, but then again babys heads can engage and stay there for a few weeks, mine did. Ask your midwife when u next see her just incase. Good luck!

If you're feeling movement down there, then it's less likey to be the head. The baby might be in a position were it's kicking you down there. If you are in pain you should contact your midwife.

Yes, yes contact your midwife!

32 weeks IS too early. The baby is still developing! But honestly there is probably no reason to worry. You are going to feel VERY heavy in your lower abdomen for weeks as the baby grows. As the baby grows the pressure grows...this is normal. With my first I felt like I was going to pop for a month. With my second the feeling was more intense for more than a month. I have only been pregnant twice but my experience shows that the pressure was greater than with my first pregnancy.

32 weeks is early but not to early. You could have a baby at 28 weeks and baby would be fine. call your midwife or see your Dr.

People have a sense of humour here in the UK. A similar question to yours came up on the Canada site and I answered that maybe your babys head is shaped like a football and they sent me a notice that it didn't meet community standards or something.
I meant no offence, only a joke. I'm Canadian and I thought we had a sense of humour. Now I'm ashamed to say I'm Canadian. So I'll try again and see how it goes here.
Maybe your babys head is shaped like a football. I only say this because the babys head is soft and changes shape quite often.
