Yeah. Yes, something happens to Will's dog. It's a sad, but VERY WELL done scene.
The movie overall is good, but the ending is a little...lacking.

May be I will get out the DVD of the one with Charlston Heston in it and see it (again) first during this holiday period. Just to refresh my memory of how the original story went.
