By far my favorite author is Andre Norton - with over 130 books to her credit and a huge number of collaborations with other authors she was a truely amazing writer.

her work spans early 1930's-1950's sci fi and historical novel (ie The Prince Commands, Stand to Horse, & Scarface

to anti-utopic (50's to 60's primarily) like "Dark Piper, Star Man's Son 2250 A.D Sea Siege tho my favorite is Beastmaster"

to straight Sci fi adventure (this in a time when women 'Didn't write sci-fi dont ya know- LOL!) some of which were Star Rangers, the Stars are Ours!, the Crossroads of Time,

She also wrote historical novels like Shadow Hawk, The White Jade Fox, the Opal-Eyed Fan & iron Butterflies

to an absolutely wonderful fantasy world (Witch World) that other authors are still adding their variations too. What i thought delightful is that she encouraged other authors to enter her worlds and add their flavors to them.

The running theme throughout her works if there is any actual theme, is that individuals can be strong and self reliant in a difficult situations and yet still be caring and loving and learn to share themselves with others

I do love other authors as well, like Robert Heinlein, Anne McCafferey, Mercedes Lackey, Jane Austin, Louisa May Alcott, Charlotte Bronte Agatha Christie and many others but Andre Norton is at the very top of my list.

No question definatly Marcus Sedgewick, his books allways draw me in soo much and the lanuage is soo poetic and the ending is allways brillent and shocking with some questions un answered, the only thing with his endings allthough I love his style I'm unsure wether I like the ending or not because certain things are such a shock its hard to come to terms with them! I've never read one of his books that I didn't like however.
