1. It is my way of celebrating and honoring Jesus. Regardless of whether or not He was born exactly on Dec 25th, or there wasn't really a Star, or whatever... the fact is, Jesus came, and I am truly grateful.
2. It is a way of sharing the love that God showed to us when He gave us His Son. So we give others gifts as a token of the love we have for them.

Everyone is entitled to my opinion.

No, Christians do not rejoice what the Romans were celebrating. Ostensibly, Christmas is well known both to commemorate the start of Jesus Christ (for Christians), or only with a view to rejoice with kin, acquaintances, and so on (for the nonChristians). Romans celebrated Saturnalia and Sol Invictus on or round Dec. 25. Saturnalia had to do with celebrating their God, Saturn, at the same time as Sol Invictus became about the wintry climate solstace. The correlation between the vacation journeys had to do with the "borrowing" of those dates by employing Christianity as a fashion to extra actual convert non-Christians of the day.
